You might find a lot of information online, but did you know that the Alhambra is not a simple monument? It is a rather large complex. Many believe that they will only see a palace, but what you will find is quite different.
This means if you want to visit and enjoy the whole complex, you need good planning.
Especially because the visit revolves around a specific time indicated on your tickets to access the Nasrid palaces.
Which areas we will see inside the Alhambra?
This extraordinary monumental complex is divided into two different hills.
Alhambra. It is located at Sabika Hill. It measures approximately 260.000 square meters, or 853.018 square feet. This palatine city is organized in three closed areas or districts.
We will visit all of them on our private tour to discover their secrets and details that are not told in history classes. These are the Alcazaba, the medina and the palaces. Its functions were as follow:
- Alcazaba was a military district.
- Medina was a craftsman, trader and servant district
- The three Nasrid Palaces are Mexuar, Comares and Patio de los Leones. They were the royal resident.
Generalife Garden. It is located at “Cerro del Sol”, or Sun Hill. They stretch over approximately 400.000 square meters, or 1312.34 square feet.
In our Alhambra private tour will walk by this beautiful paradise or “almunia”. This Arabic word means a country house. It was used for recreation and agriculture production.
The Generalife is still productive and still uses the original irrigation system.
We will enjoy its beautiful gardens with our five senses while discovering its fascinating history.
